WIP - Quilts for the boys

A few months ago I saw this pattern and thought it would be perfect for the boys room. Nice and bright in modern prints, not girly and I could mix prints and colours to suit while still remaining similar. Pattern is Pow Wow by Cluck Cluck Sew.
There is an awful lot of cutting and then repetition from sewing the same pieces over and over, its a flying geese top and an arrow bottom then join to make the one block, I need 99 blocks per a quilt plus extras for cushions so about 250 arrows to be sewn.
Aim was to use from my stash, nice modern and retro prints, nothing dull and no real floral prints. I want these quilts to have deeps sides and be extra warm and to last for there early teenager years.

Sanctuary Cot Quilt and Bunting

I just love this fabric, Sanctuary by 3 Sisters, so pretty. Its out of print now, I bought 2 FQ bundles about 5 years ago, using one to make this quilt for Oliver's year 4 teacher and putting the other bundle aside to use for something special.
I used 8 fq's to piece a simple but pretty cot quilt, stipple quilted all over with a strip pieced back and matching green binding. Perfect for the nursery or a lap quilt for the car. I also made matching scalloped bunting. Love.
Both items will be available to buy in the Ineke Designs Showcase, for more info please see here.

Happy Twelth

Stu turned 12 on Friday, celebrating with family, McDonalds and a trip to Spotlight ha ha. On Saturday he hosted a party at Guf, the most amazing internet cyber space for gamers you could imagine, never had better service at a birthday party ever!!

Party was continued on back at our place for pizza, popcorn and icecream cake. They watched movies on the projector, had pillow fights, ate copious amounts of lollies and passed out around midnight. Up around 7am and gone by 10, Stu said "best party ever"!! Happy Birthday Mr Twelve.

Stop and smell the roses

well not roses but I just love home grown flowers. I picked these up in Woodend this morning from a little organic grocer, they smell so sweet.
We decided to take the day off from our regular Saturday routine, catch up with family and let the kids play and forget about work, dance, market stalls, hat orders, impending birthdays and how just how many days till Christmas??

Photo Day

Today was photo day, yipee. I love that they take studio photos of all the girls. I snapped a few photos in between helping to dress and fix hair, those wiglets can be quite tricky to get in and out. It was a good opportunity to see how all the costumes will look when on stage together, and how they fit. Plus it gave me some much needed practice with applying head pieces and false eyelashes!
