I bought these a few weeks ago, super fast posting from here to here then to me here!I have about 3m of the lotus green and the rest all half yards, would of loved whole yards but the cost $$$. Plan is to make some strip pieced cushions and maybe a matching quilt, we will see. At the moment is just for looking at.

Flat Cat

Poor Kippy, she is suffering from Flat Cat. Lethargic, high temperature, unwilling to eat, drink or move even a whisker. Rare vaccination side effects, 4 trips to the vet and she is feeling a little better, just wanting to be held. Muffin has to have his booster tomorrow, he's more robust with all that fur! I have been making some little cat quilts, simple designs in bright colours, purr-fect for practicing some BSR on my new machine. It's being delivered in 12 hours, yipee!!

Another 9 Patch

Another 9 patch on the way, I am hoping this one will be for Oliver's Teacher. Squares from my stash = 278 From Emma's = 323 From Helen = 173 From my mums = 290 Kipper getting all destructive with Emma's squares, lol. Thanks guys, I think I have enough to make 2 quilts with this lot!! Just need to cut a heap more white homespun, this quilt will be slighly different to the other 9 patch. I am only using purple tones and leaving the centre blocks white, still a 9 patch but not a 2 toned one. I got my inspiration here, from Red Pepper Quilts, I just love this quilt.

Back from the Craft Fair

and under budget!! I have gotten a fantastic deal on a new Bernina, and while I am sad that my Janome will be going to a new home (I got an excelent trade in), I am thrilled that the Auora 440 will be moving in!!
For todays squishy purchases...some $3.50 spotty FQ, I have a thing for spots~ Some discontinued Katie Jump rope~ Some Aboriginal FQ's $6 each, my neighbour collects Aboriginal Art so I am going to make her a table runner~ And no pic, but I bought this Quilt Kit here from Dyed and Gone to Heaven, a great simple pieced quilt that will give me a great oportunity to practice my FMQ with my BSR. Woo Hoo, bring on Wednesday when it gets delivered!
I did buy a few other FQ's for various projects and I got a great Amitie Scrap Pack for $10. All in all, a great day!

Sewing Set Up

Messy? Yes, but I know where everything is and everything is accessible, including Muffin. Bob dislikes my nook, thinks I am overtaking the living area slowly. Will look into some more fabric storage this weekend, and repack my tubs, I have alot of UFO's, or WOMBAT'S as Helen calls them (Waste Of Material, Batting And Time!!)

Amanda Jeans One Day Quilt Along

Amanda Jean aka Crazy Mom Quilts is hosting a 9 patch Quilt Along. I am making 3 of these for teachers gifts this Christmas, starting now to beat the rush / mad panic! I like how I can just make a few blocks at a time and then put aside and continue with something else. One in Amy Butler Midwest Modern pinks for Cate's Dance teacher. I have cut out 700 squares per quilt, this makes 70 blocks and allows extra squares for the borders.
Still need to decide on colour selection for Stuart's Year 3 Teacher.
And Cate's teacher is male, so his quilt will be in black and whites with a music print and maybe some red. I need to stock up on more black and whites, hopefully I can get some at the craft fair next week. Or does anyone want to do a swap? Blocks needed are 2.5" square.

Quick One Patch - top completed

I started this Prints Charming quilt back in February, I had done all the cutting and sewn the 4 patches and then for some reason put aside destined to be a UFO. I pulled it out on Sunday afternoon and whallah, top is completed! Love it, I have 2 Prints Charming backings to pick from, will sandwich and quilt on the weekend. Might even hand quilt, I need something to do while Cate's at Calisthenics but I do need to practice my stippling so that will proberly win.

Stu's Quilt of Green

A few weeks ago I was browsing Flickr and Google and came across a pattern called the String X Quilt. You can find it here, but browse the site, there are heaps of scrappy quilt patterns to choose from. . It took me about 2 hours to cut all my green fabrics into strips, and another 5 hours to sew the foundation pieces, you sew and flip, sew and flip, sew and flip... and each piece has to be ironed in between the sewing and flipping, so I set the ironing board up next to my desk and just sewed and flipped then ironed, I have been working on this for the past 3 weeks. Single bed size, I have made 48 strips, each each strip is 4.5" x 10", after the sewing and flipping you trim to size then cut a triangle end. Sew on some white triangles and square up and then you have your block. 4 smaller blocks join together to make on Strip X block. I have used green fabrics entirely from my stash and a few from Helen's and AJ's and Emma's (thanks girls!) Plan is for an all over close stipple so it scrunches up nicley using a warm cotton wool blend wadding. I hope to complete the top this weekend, fingers crossed!
