Cate's Top

I bought this pattern from an Op Shop for 50c, when I opened it I found that it had no instructions.
I have been wanting to make the little apron smock for Cate for a while, for her to wear over a long sleeved top with jeans for a casual look. Using an Amy Butler print from my stash and a matching mustard lining, I completed it in about 2 hours. (and hey, it matches the wall paper)
Cate wore it to the craft fair and looked fantastic!! Sized 5-6 years, it's quite generous on the length but perhaps a little snug on the head hole, I also attached ribbon trim for the ties instead of making fabric ones as they looked to chunky. Cate loves it so I am going to make her a few more for this winter.

It is so cute, I am wishing I had been able to have chn and thus have grandies to make some of these cute things, however I am glad to say I am really enjoying seeing them and have a grin on my face when I see them and the little body in them. Maybe it reminds me of several very happy years of teaching preps.

A few matching ones would look great for her cousins too, don't you think??!

That is adorable. The fabric suits the dress style perfectly.

Great dress! I too love vintage patterns and have made a few dresses for my daughter. I also have found the neckholes to be quite a bit smaller than current day patterns. I always cut the neckhole larger by at least an inch or two!

This is so adorable! I haven't sewn for kids in forever, since my DD was in high school, and my first grandchild is a boy and there aren't very many boy patterns out there these days. However, we think the next one on the way is a girl and that will send me back to the sewing machine, I think.

Oh, I said it is adorable -- I meant Cate! The outfit is too.
