Were at the New House!

Yay! Finally were in our new home!
We have a very noice airconditioned 4 bedroom, 2 bathroom, 3 car garage home, with a great backyard (that has a clothes line!), large outdoor patio area, kitchen with an oven, big lounge and family room and most importantly a sewing nook! Were a 2 minute walk to the beach and the kids love having there own domains.
No pics of the house, but 2 of Little Cat flaked from moving and up the back tree.

Happy New Year

New Years Eve in Mandurah. We all went out for dinner then over to the foreshore for the fireworks at 9.00pm. Then we spent New Years Day at our local beach and then house hunting, I think we may of found one!
Cate loves the beach, this one is in Halls Head and allows dogs, I was thrilled to see an Airdale Terrier, just need to convince someone that we need one!

Shangri-La Ragged Edges

I love this quilt so much I almost kept it! Made from 3 Shangri-La charm packs, each block was 5 inches square with the wadding 4 inches, finished size 11 x 11 squares, perfect for a lap quilt. I used a burgandy Moda fabric as the backing, giving a red ragged edge.
Made for Miss Bolding, Oliver's Year 2 teacher. He had had Miss Bolding as his teacher for the last two years and I don't think he has thought about her not coming with him to the new school!

Japanese Ragged Edges

For Stuarts Year 1 teacher Miss Freeman, I made a large ragged edges quilt from Japanese type fabrics that had gold in them. Each block was 10 inches square with the wadding 8.5 inches to allow a very ragged 1.5 inch seam, I used the same fabric on the back as the front. It came together quickly, started and completed in 3 days. On the card I wrote "I may not of been the perfect student for you, but you were the perfect teacher for me". Miss Freeman is an excellent teacher, she had a difficult group of kids but managed remarkably well and Stuart loves her to bits.

Softies

Not much time to sew today with cleaning, washing, Cate wanting to use the table for playdoh, a birthday party at HJ...however I managed to squeeze in some sewing purchases to make a start on my first softie. I bought this book called Softies which has 22 patterns to whip up. Oliver wants me to make the red astronaut.
